Like raindrops we scattered across this wide, wide world

In the second poetic gathering of the ‘Harmony’ series, the drama company will present the balladic poem *Jan the Fiddler*. In a meditation that is both contemplative and passionate, we return to the places that Jan called home. Now, however, he no longer recognises his own country.

The people with whom the violinist shared common experiences are either gone or have changed. Beneath the allegory of occupation (the work is inspired by the year 1939), Jan cannot make sense of a world that lies in ruins like the mythical Atlantis; he is unable to accept its new, twisted backbone. Has he, too, perhaps changed? How can one carry on living without losing one’s sanity and soul?

The exceptional poetry of music as freedom’s final act of defiance. In a gesture that cannot change the world, but can shed light on it and give it a name. Jan finds a way out of the abyss of loneliness in an act of charity – in a concert for children and in simple humanity.
