PHARAOH'S CURSE

What can opera as a genre endure? And what would an opera about plundering the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun look like? Is it possible to look for comedy in this story?

The authors of Pharaoh's Curse attempt to answer these questions and more in the form of a chamber opera parody written for Pilsen. Its humour and poetics are not far from the style of the Monty Python satire or Mel Brooks' musicals. There will also be an aria in the spirit of Verdi, a frantic chase or the charming of snakes.
