I have an injured finger and the letters hurt me

The fourth and final event in the ‘Harmony’ series is dedicated to the poetry of Jan Skácel – a poet of silence and contemplation, but also the author of an outstanding adaptation of Sophocles’ *Oedipus*.

Skácel’s world is one of simple words and solid forms, within which lies a delicate balance between man, landscape and time. His verses do not speak aloud – rather, they listen. Here, poetry becomes a space of responsibility for language, for the world and for that which remains unspoken. The final instalment of the series concludes with a return to silence, in which the word regains its weight.

Four one-off staged encounters with the works of Czech poets who have fundamentally influenced the perception of the Czech language. In the ‘Souznění’ series, a poet, an actor and a solo instrument – that is, live music, the human voice and poetry – always come together. These staged performances will take place every Sunday at 4 pm.
