Karel Hynek Mácha

Dalekáť cesta má... Marné volání...

We open the “Harmony” series with the complex figure of Karel Hynek Mácha and his existential poem *Máj*. It is a poem about the tragic beauty of human existence—about the longing for love and freedom in a world that offers no definitive answers.

This theatrical exploration of Czech poetry begins with a poet who, through his creative spirit and his work, revealed the vivid imagery, musicality, and onomatopoeic qualities of the Czech language.

Four special staged encounters with the works of Czech poets who have fundamentally influenced the perception of the Czech language. In the “Harmony” series, a poet, an actor, and a solo instrument—that is, live music, the human voice, and poetry—always come together. These staged performances will take place every Sunday at 4:00 p.m.
