The key director of The Drama Club and The Vinohrady Theatre in Prague, Martin Čičvák, returns to the JK Tyl Theatre after two years with another Molière's comedy, this time with Tartuffe. Tartuffe, or a hypocrite, a goody or a fraud, is a classical satirical comedy criticising character, hypocrisy, abuse of power, the era and the blind society. Along with Don Juan, The Miser and Misanthrope, it is the best of Molière. The play was banned immediately after it premiered in Paris in 1664 but that started its very successful tour around European stages through centuries until today. Tartuffe is a pure comedy, full of brilliant dialogues, situations, lively characters and yet, full of contradictions.
Premiere on 27 October 2018 at the New Theatre.
