We Sell the Bride

Bedřich Smetana

The Bartered Bride since its premiere in 1866 became the Czech national opera that accompanied our nation in both good and bad times.

It still belongs to the most popular Czech operas of all time and is loved by all generations of viewers. To attract the youngest audience, the JK Tyl Theatre has prepared a special short production for children which follows up on successful titles such as About Rusalka or Papageno in the Magical Forest. With pretty stage and costumes, we try to create the impression of a village where the story about Jeník, who only seemingly sells his bride, takes place.

Premiere on 6 October 2018 at the DJKT’s Black Box
