The play was first introduced in the world premiere to mark the Year of Czech Theatre at the National Theatre in Prague on 17 March 1983 and had more than 100 reruns. The popular play which had been shown in other Czech theatres and also made into a film became the basis for Kubička's opera which also includes Ryba's favourite composition, the Czech Christmas Mass 'Hey Master' from 1796 that has become the integral part of Czech Christmas celebrations. We will present the opera in a world premiere also as a tribute to Jakub Jan Ryba who was born in Přeštice, south of Pilsen.

Premiere on 14 October 2017 at the Grand Theatre
