The play Hamlet is usually marked as the first Shakespeare's masterpiece and along with Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, King Lear and Othello is the author's most-famous tragedy. It was created at the turn of the 17th century and it takes place at Elsinor Castle in Denmark where prince Hamlet cannot come to terms with his father's death. In Pilsen, which has seen several productions of Thomas's most successful opera Mignon (last time in 1963), we will present Hamlet for the first time.

The opera will be performed in original French with Czech subtitles.

Premiere on 20 January 2018 at the New Theatre
