The captivating music by George Bizet has inspired many choreographers to dance interpretations of this drama. Experienced choreographer Mário Radačovský leads the ballet company of the JK Tyl Theatre to a riveting portrayal of destructive love and lets his dance images get enthused by the force of unrestrained passion. To speak the name of Carmen means to name passion: that already applied when the novel by Prosper Mérimée was first published in 1845. Carmen personified 'the love moved back to nature, ... innocent, cynical and cruel love', as Friedrich Nietzsche put it.
Premiere on 26 March 2016 at the New Theatre.
