As European opera stages are changing, the Pilsen opera is changing too. The number of soloists in engagement is decreasing, the portfolio of home and foreign guest artists is broadening and a solid musical quality of productions is becoming the natural expectation for the consistently dramatic, ambitious and modern staging concept of shows.
Along with the appearance of productions, also the form of opera’s external presentation is changing. There is an increased use of new communication media aiming at young audiences (such as social networks, viral adverts and site-specific productions).
The composition of the repertory covers the complete history of this genre and the world regional nationality with a big emphasis on Czech opera.
